Ok trying out my new found but spartan (wrong ancient civilisation I know) skills is difficult. Most waiters parla inglese
better than I do and are not keen to speak Italian. The Anglo conversion seems to have spread to the coffee, well in the tourist parts anyway. Americano cafe is the default order you get unless you make it very specific. Gloopy burnt filter coffee is fine but we have all been to Hudson's. Perhaps I should have named the blog 'cafe and cafe'?
